RTÉ’s HOME OF THE YEAR 2023

  • Interiors

I’m delighted to be back for this year’s RTÉ’S Home of the Year. Myself, Amanda and Hugh will visit 21 homes across Ireland. This is the ninth series of Home of the Year and viewers can expect to see re-imagined semi-detached homes, renovation projects, architectural homes,  restored period homesand new builds.

‘This year there was a fascinating level of architecture and design. A lot of projects that had been
delayed due to Covid were into mix and there are some jaw-dropping homes.’
‘The variety of homes we have this series, and in fact every series, is what keeps the show
fresh and enticing for us as judges and ultimately the viewers too. For the modern homes
with lots of glass to cozy cottages in the countryside, every home is unique. The number of
houses where we walk up to the front door thinking we know what lies behind it only to be
thrown a curveball and a stark reminder that you can’t judge a book by its cover! It’s
fascinating to see the transformations that have taken place and this is what the show is
all about championing creativity and showcasing clever design and individuality.’
‘I think Ireland has changed dramatically in last 25 years and there has been increasing
investment in homes and interiors. Our homes are a huge part of our lives now and
certainly when it comes to the architecture, over the last 18 months I have seen some
really interesting extensions and builds, and in my opinion, Ireland is on par with the UK
and further afield.’

The new series of Home of the Year airs on RTÉ One at 8.30pm on Tuesday 14th February and
runs for eight consecutive weeks. The series will also be available on-demand on RTÉ Player each
week after broadcast.
